Introduction to Youth Basketball Program
How would you feel at work or in any capacity being asked to do something you are not capable of doing and then assigning a consequence to the outcome, and even being yelled at? This is the bright spotlight that almost over 95% of youth and middle school boys and girls find themselves in, as parents signup their kids to compete in leagues and tournaments they are not ready for. This everyday strategy is not only putting stress on youth at a young age, it is ruining the game of basketball from a skill level perspective.
Welcome to Michigan Thunder's School of Youth Basketball, created to teach the basic fundamental skills and concepts of basketball, at the grassroots level of 1st through 4th grade boys and girls. Our program focuses on the basic skills of dribbling, shooting, passing, movement, offense and defense concepts through the use of repetition in a fun and competitive learning enviorment.
Your children will experience the most fun, intense, energizing basketball skillls development training with our youth school of basketball. Our basketball training school model is designed to bring out the best in youth participants with increased respect for sportsmanship, enhanced fundamental athletic abilities, and a deeper understanding of teamwork and responsibility. Michigan Thunder's School of Youth Basketball prepares young players, ages 5-7, for competitive team play.
What programs do you offer to help my child?
Basketball Basic Training: This is the bread and butter entry level training program for youth 1st through 4th grade. Training covers a wide range of topics from defense to offense, court awareness, shooting, dribbling, passing and more. Sessions take place all year around in 6 week sessions.
Instruction consists of building competitive habits through repetition and reinforcement of these core areas, while making programming fun and competitive. Kids will grow and learn about more than basketball, while they practice ball-handling, dribbling, and shooting, they will also learn about self-esteem, teamwork, and the value of hard work. Upon completion of instruction levels, each player will receive a certificate of completion outlining the areas they have successfully completed in the program.
Basketball Basic Training Satellite Camps: Through technical instruction, intensive drill sequences from our proven training team, our highly refined training methods seamlessly translate from the practice court to game competition. basketball students will receive all-around skill instruction, mental conditioning, speed training and ongoing analysis for continued improvement. Satellite camps are designed to be private training sessions for school districts and community organizations all-year around, interested in improving students basketball skills .
Great for schools wanting to train kids how to play basketball at the grassroots level and as advanced training for older students.
